I am co-PI, along with James Lindholm, for the NCEAS grant supporting the distributed seminar. I currently work as a senior policy adviser in NOAA's Office of National Marine Sanctuaries.
My projects include investigating approaches for integrating ecosystem-based management principles into the system of National Marine Sanctuaries. I also manage research aboard the Sanctuary vessel R/V SRVx. My work also includes advancing hazard preparedness for National Marine Sanctuaries.
I have a BS in biology from the University of Rhode Island, an MS in oceanography from Oregon State University, and a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Washington.
I am married with 2 children, one of whom is an economics major at the University of Washington.
